Happy Valentine’s day! Brooke and I adopted a new dog from the Saint Paul Humane Society named Rorey. He’s a 2 1/2 year old Plott Hound/Lab mix. Cute as shit and bred for bear hunting, so he should fit in just fine.
The Voytek likes to party 7″ is currently being mastered and should be off to the pressing plant this week sometime. I’m pretty excited as the Voytek 7″ is the first release in about a year. I have a few other projects in the works as well.
In other news, I’ve been busy screen printing as usual. Check out a couple of my most recent projects for Windian Records (MOTO 7″ cover) and Kind Turkey Records (Trent Fox 7″ cover). I have a few shirt projects coming up to, so I’ll post pics of the outcome…

Voytek recently finished recording songs for their new 7″ at NPRS Studio in lovely Minneapolis. Expect a release show towards the end of February, I’ll post more a it gets figured out. Our beloved dog Willie lost his 10 month battle with cancer this past week. Brooke and I are very sad. However, we’re thankful to everyone for all of the kind words we’ve received. Willie will be missed more than we could ever express.
Although I am beyond bummed out, I am really happy for Voytek and The Bombay Sweets who both made the City Pages Pick2Click this year. I love both bands dearly and wish them the best!

The wonderful John, evil genius behind the live recording blog Empty Tapes, was featured on Radio K’s Off the Record this past Friday. If you’re not familiar with John, he’s the guy at shows recording in the back. He’s a true musical historian with an insane motivation I wish I could only emulate. Check out an MP3 of the show here. John’s 30th birthday party will be hosted at the Triple Rock on Sunday, Oct 3rd featuring performances by Sleeping in the Aviary, Bird Sounds, The Chickadee Mountain Martyrs and American Lotus (x Hockey Night & Malachi Constant).

Get’n ready to roll out a sleazy new 7″ for a new band from Minneapolis called Voytek. These guys include members from Tora! Tora! Torrance, Charles de Gaulle, & Huge Rat Attacks. Should be out in late December.
Love Collector was just added to the most incredible Goner Fest bill yet! Catch them in beautiful Memphis on Sep 24th @ The Buccaneer w/Golden Boys, Legendary Wings & the DataDrums. They’ll have plenty of 7″s and tshirts for sale as well.

Oh shit! It has been a while since my last update. There’s been lots of good news, some bad news and a ton of tours to talk about, so let’s get the first bit of sad news out of the way. The Shortcuts will be on a long break towards the end of the summer, so the release has been shelved, maybe someday it will be back on!
In place of the above mentioned record will be a 7″ by Austin Tx band, Love Collector. Love Collector includes members of The Ape Shits, Sex Advice, and The Shitty Beach Boys among others. Click the link and hear their sweet Texas sounds for yourself!

The Points kicked off a 2 month US tour this past Thursday @ Black Cat in DC with Cloak/ Dagger, I heard it was pretty rad…Check out the tour dates, then go support them when they hit your town! Their Big Action split 7″ w/ Maaster Gaiden recently sold out; however, Interpunk still has a few copies if you hurry.
The Fuck Knights just finished up a short weekend of long drives, playing in Chicago & Kentucky. See their latest review below.
Maximum Rock n Roll (Feb 2008 Issue): Well, this band isn’t getting any props from me for their name, but I’ll give it a thumbs up for the music! This is super lo-fi garage/punk rock ‘n’ roll along the lines of the BLACK LIPS — fuzzed-out guitars abound with frantic leads throughout. The drummer hammers away on a stripped-down kit while handling the vocals as well. It doesn’t get much simpler than this, but boy does it work! Other than the band name and ridiculous monikers of the members (Sir Fuxalot, Sir Getsalottapuss, and Lord Ballahag), I fully endorse this EP!! (ML)

The Shortcuts wrapped up recording their new 7″, scheduled to be released in May. If you have their debut cd, then you know these gals can twist and shout like none other. For those who have never heard them, click here. If you are already familiar, then you will savor every fucking sweet sound.
The Fuck Knights single is flying out the door. If you like raw and sweaty 60’s styled rocknroll, then the Fuck Knights might be something you should check out. A trip to Cleveland and out East is in the works, click here for more info.
The Brokedowns have a couple seven inches due to be released by several different labels. I would give you details myself, but I was drunk when Jon and Kris told me about them. Details?
